About the Interviewee

Max Eisen was born in 1929 in Moldava na Bodvou, Czechoslovakia. In the spring of 1944, Max was deported to Auschwitz-Birkenau where he survived the selection. Most of his family members were killed upon arrival. Max, his father and uncle were selected for slave labor and were marched to the Auschwitz I camp from Birkenau. This was where he last saw his father and uncle.

Max was liberated after several death marches at the camp of Ebensee on May 6, 1945.
